All students must obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) card from the Louisiana DMV before the first day of class — no exceptions.
This card is required by state law for participation in both the classroom and behind-the-wheel portions of driver education.

Visit your local DMV or schedule online at expresslane.org

Bring:

Original birth certificate

Social Security card

Proof of residency

School ID or other secondary ID

Parent/guardian with ID (if under 17)

Cost: $32.25 + service fee
📎 Without a TIP card, you cannot attend class or begin driving instruction.
